Unlimited racing wing - OFFWORLD MODELS ::: The Art Of Mark Nohrnberg

Unlimited racing wing

This machine is for the unlimited racing circuit. The only rules are 2 crew, it must fly, and no weapons (yet). The races follow an air racing style course from 0 to 1000 feet altitude. The distances are up to 1000 miles long. The racers can cut the coarse and do other "cheats " because of no rules but if the crowd turns on you, forget coming back. The fans are there to see speed, skill, and danger.

This model is 1/35 scale. I have never been a fan of car kits so I tried to build one and this is what came out. The lower main hull is 2 Porsche race cars, Star Wars battle droids and a 1/32 scale British Tornado fighter. The upright is a B-52 tail and the flying head is a combo of Tornado and monster truck.

The headlights and interior lights as well as all navigation lights function. Some of them blink so they are on and off in different pictures.

The main wings pivot on their main axis points. The forward section of the pod also pivots.

The paint is automotive acrylic laquer with washes of oil and dry brushing. The soot coming from the forward APU is charcoal. The graphics are from many different kits. The whole model was finished with layers of gloss and matte to give an uneven look, it is mid race season after all.
