M-500 H - OFFWORLD MODELS ::: The Art Of Mark Nohrnberg

M-500 H

Using an M-500 H, these forward observers are well equipped to handle any trouble or just getting out. Often "no contact" is the main order for this unit. M-500's are a favorite of special forces units and are used for many unconventional missions.

This type of vehicle is an older style machine being replaced by newer flying equipment, but they are still widely used. The ease of maintenance keeps M-500's around. Gyro stabilizers keep 500's up and decrease their ground pressure making them very useful in the dune sea.

This model started out as a sketch in summer school, years later I built it. The bike is mostly plastic parts with a lot of epoxy putty.

The base is made of eps foam and sand. The waves are sanded into the foam and then sculpted in the sand while the glue dried. I used pictures I took at the beach to get the details right.

I chose yellow tone colors to give the feel of hot.

The crew was made with wire, epoxy putty, and some kit parts. The straps are tape.

The turret is made of sheet styrene with plastic rod details. The only kit part is the gun shield; it is a P 40 nose part. The gun is scratch built from plastic rods.
